Even though Uruguay are currently located at the top of the CONMEBOL group, there is a chance that anything can happen in the 10 remaining qualifying matches that are left to be played.

When it comes to winning the FIFA World Cup, Uruguay was a titan back in the opening years of the competition as they won the first edition of the worldwide competition which was held at the Centenario Stadium back on July of 1930.

Uruguay would later go on to become the champions once again on 1950 but they have struggled to win it ever since then. The head coach of the Uruguayan national football team, Oscar Tabarez is hoping that he can snatch back the title for Uruguay which they have not been able to do in over 65 years.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification campaign of Uruguay has kicked off in a very impressive form as they are even positioned above Brazil and Argentina which are widely regarded as some of the best national sides in the world of football and Oscar Tabarez is hoping his side can continue claiming more victories.

From the 8 opening qualifying matches that Uruguay has played so far, they lost against Ecuador and Argentina. The upcoming game of Uruguay is scheduled to take place on October 6 with the Uruguayan national side facing off with Venezuela.
