Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is keen to redeem himself with Uruguay at the 2018 World Cup following the shambles created by him during the previous tournament in Brazil. The marksman was banned for a biting incident on Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the group stage of the previous World Cup and this eventually hampered Uruguay, who lost out to Colombia in the round of 16 stage.
Suarez has since remained an influential figure for the national side despite the unfruitful incident and he is now keen to repay the country’s faith by putting in a strong performance this summer. Speaking in an interview, he said: “It was my mistake. So I have a debt to repay to myself and Uruguay, to try to show a good image.”
