SUAREZ DESERVES PLACE

The Chief Executive of the Professional footballers Association, Gordon Taylor, has said that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez deserves his place in the PFA nominations after a fantastic season.

The Uruguay striker is one among the six candidates for the PFA player of the year award. He has managed to score 20 league goals this season. Even though it has not helped Liverpool get into the top four, it has been extremely important in the club finishing in the top 10 of the table. Suarez, though, has been involved in several controversies recently.

He was recently found biting into the arm of Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, which is likely to earn the Uruguay striker a huge ban. As a result of the constant altercations with the English football Association, it is believed that Suarez may demand a transfer away from England. Tottenham winger Gareth Bale is one of the favourites to win the award, but Taylor has said that Suarez deserves to be on the list for his performances this season. Many have criticised the decision to include Suarez for the player of the year award a time when he is set to undergo a trial for violent conduct on the pitch.
The 26-year-old received an eight match ban for racially abusing Patrice Evra a few months ago.

“Sometimes controversy travels with players. Sometimes it is in their very nature. Sometimes it is that very intensity that causes a problem also makes sure they win. Luis Suarez is helping to restore Liverpool. It is a credit to them that he seems comfortable there and no one could deny he is one of the finest players in the world. It is very difficult at times. Players are expected to be top role models and set the finest example. That goes with the trade these days,” said Taylor.
