Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini has denied speculation that they are close to coming to an agreement with Liverpool over a potential transfer of Uruguayan star Luis Suarez in the summer.
Luis Suarez has grown tired of English football after being subjected to intense physical challenges and also criticism from the media over the racist issues. Hence, there has been speculation that clubs like PSG and AC Milan will be interested in taking him from Liverpool in the summer. Roma, however, have emerged as a surprise destination for the Uruguayan, who is especially known for his excellent skills on the ball.
Walter Sabatini, however, has moved swiftly to the many rumours that Luis Suarez could be set for a move to Italy in the summer. It is thought that one of the main stumbling blocks will be a potential transfer fee, as Liverpool will not be expecting anything less than £ 35 million for the striker. Walter Sabatini has said that there is no truth in the Suarez rumours, as there have been no negotiations with Roma and Liverpool over this situation. Sabatini also clarified the situation surrounding Danish defender Simon Kjaer, who could depart the club in the summer after a poor loan spell.
“There have not been any negotiations for Suarez. He is a very good player, even though he has had some problems lately, but these are just rumours,” Sabatini told Radio Mana Mana. Regarding Simon Kjaer, Sabatini told that the club would make the decision on his future at the end of the season. So far, Roma have struggled to convince this season and they currently lie in the sixth position. The latest results in the Italian Serie A, however, have been encouraging for Roma, as they are only four points behind a Champions League position.
