‘’He is a player that you cannot describe; you can only see him, marvel and admire what he does.Argentina has some great players with a lot of experience, and they are the best team in the world according to FIFA, and I agree. They have Messi who is a player with a level above anybody else. We knew it would be a very difficult game, but we know that today the qualifiers are far from over,” Uruguay’s head coach Oscar Tabarez said.
The Uruguayan football national side is competing in the CONMEBOL group along with: Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela and Bolivia in what is a very contested group but Uruguay has managed to hold their ground after having collected 23 points from their 11 played so far.
Uruguay is one of the nations that is expected to finish in the top 4 spots of the CONMEBOL and seal their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification ticket. Argentina was one of the national sides that was predicted to snatch a top position without facing much difficulty but it has not worked out for them, despite having defeated Uruguay, Lionel Messi and his men are struggling after only being able to collect 16 points from these 11 opening matches and having to settle with the 6th spot.
