Uruguay come on the back of the 2-1 victory over Peru in the first World Cup qualifying match of September. They will be taking on Columbia, which will be an extremely difficult match on Wednesday. Ahead of this match, Cavani has spoken about the importance of taking a victory from this match in order to confirm they are berth in the World Cup 2014.

Uruguay were expected to comfortably qualify for the World Cup, but they are only fifth in the table. Hence, they must win all their remaining matches in order to be sure of qualification. Cavani recently sealed a move to Paris St Germain for £ 55 million, which makes him one of the most expensive players in the world. The national team also has the services of Liverpool striker Luiz Suarez, who is also valued at a similar amount. They are expected to be at the forefront of Tabarez’s challenge to get Uruguay into the World Cup. The team finished in the semifinals in the last World Cup.

“I don’t want to say which match is more important. For Uruguay, every match is a final. We have the weapons to fight against them. The important thing is not to think about the others, but to win to be closer to our goal. We must not have negative thinkings. If we lose, we will see how we deal with that, but we are going to jump into the field to win the game. That is the goal of everybody here,” said the 26-year-old ahead of the match with Columbia on Wednesday night.
