A host of strikers across Europe including Ali Akman, ErlingHaaland, Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez, Harry Kane, and even Paulo Dybala have l been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium, but according to the Daily Telegraph, Darwin Nunez is appearing as the player the club could end up signing in the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old striker currently plays for Benfica and only joined the Portuguese outfit from UD Almeria just four months ago, signing a five-year deal in the process. Before joining Benfica, he had a hand in sixteen goals for UD Almeria last season, scoring eight goals and further assisting another eight.
Since signing for Benfica, Nunez has been on fire and has already scored nine goals in just thirteen appearances for the Portuguese side. He has so created nineteen chances for the club, has won twenty-five aerial duels, and has recorded seventeen successful dribbles. These statistics are enough for any top club in Europe to want to get him to their team.
His new manager at Benfica Jorge Jesus revealed in November after capturing the young forward said Nunez would go on to be a world-class player in future and also said he expects the 21-year-old to be sold for an amount higher than what Joao Felix was sold for.
Although City are known to always spend big for players, they may not splash that much cash for the player as they want him to prove himself more.
