Uruguay striker EdinsonCavaniscored a sensational goal to welcome the fans back to Old Trafford in the Premier League earlier this week. The Manchester United player featured in front of the club’s fans for the first time since his free transfer move last summer and he celebrated the occasion with a phenomenal strike against Fulham.
The Uruguay produced the world class strike in the first half of the encounter but it was not enough to win the game for his team. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted for David De Gea ahead of Dean Henderson in goal and the Spaniard was involved in the opening goal of the match. His long kick was flicked into the path of Cavani by Portuguese national team playmaker Bruno Fernandes before the Uruguay player chipped Fulham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola from a long way out.
The first half strike from Cavani took his tally to four goals in the last five games in all competitions.
Manchester United could not build on the goal from the Uruguay national team player as they were wasteful in front of goal especially in the second half. Fulham took the initiative late in the game with the equaliser from fullback Joe Bryan as the two teams settled for a share of the spoils. The point earned is a welcomed development Fulham who have already suffered demotion to the English Championship.
The game would be remembered for the moment of brilliance from Cavani. The Uruguay strike scored the contender for the goal of the season though it was not enough to give his team the three points at stake in the end.
